College of The Albemarle and UNC-CSI host first Albemarle Green Building Seminar and Expo

College of The Albemarle and UNC-CSI hosted the very first Albemarle Green Building Seminar and Expo on February 28, 2008. This day-long event consisted of a variety seminars focusing on green building concepts and a vendor hall exhibiting green technologies and products. Over 200 local and regional contractors, trades people, homeowners, and high school students attended the event to learn about green building practices and technology, creating new green building markets through education, and green building opportunities in Northeastern North Carolina.

UNC-CSI and USACE deploy oceanographic observing station at Jennette's Pier
UNC-CSI, in collaboration with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) recently deployed an oceanographic observing station in the near shore Atlantic Ocean approximately one-half mile off of Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, Dare County, North Carolina. The project consisted of the deployment of an Acoustic Wave and Current (AWAC) profiler instrument in 33 ½ feet of water located south and east of Jennette’s Pier.

Albemarle/Pamlico Peninsula Lake Research
UNC-CSI Researcher Dina Leech has been studying the lakes found within the Albemarle/Pamlico Peninsula Lake system. Dina is intertesed in the ecology of these lakes and the plankton found within them. The results of this work can be used to assist in the management of these fragile natural resources.
